Spring Flowers, Alivia

We have been enjoying some beautiful warm weather here in Central Oregon. The first blooms are busting out, the irrigation water is on, which brings on green field and lawns. Yippeeee....
I am lovin it!! There is snow up on the mountains, which will be melting into the rivers, which will fill the reservoirs......so on and so on....

Last weekend we got up into the 80's, I was quickly reminded that I am menopausal and better find that fan to sleep with...... hmmmm....how long till I break down and go get some HRT. I have been holding out on doing this but I am getting closer to having the discussion at my next appointment with the fun doctor. Please share your story on Hormone Replacement if you have one. My SIL works for the company in Seattle who heads up the study on HRT. Some results from the study really make me nervous about using HRT. I have always waited until I am miserable before taking medication. I am thinking I am miserable enough now!! time to have the discussion.

Last week I went to a doctor regarding my migraines. I have had them for years and they have come on with a vengeance lately so I guess I was miserable enough and did a good thing. I found the doctor to be so understanding and had a very good discussion. I am taking medication to prevent as well as receiving some very expensive pills for killing the damn things before they kill me. That's what it feels like some times that your body is trying to kill you..... well so far so good........

Oh the sun feels so good, I am ready to bask in it, and get my garden planted, at least the seeds.

This Easter, our youngest son brought his fiance and Alivia over to celebrate with us. Alivia is three, and so fun and active. She is a an "on the go girly girl". I hid and I use the word loosely, some eggs. Made up a basket for her!!! What are holidays without kids to celebrate....just so much more fun with them.
So meet Alivia, cute little smile, bright eyes!! I want to be three...... she loved her little Starbucks bear, dressed in a lamb suit this year!!! Chocolate chicks....which she was unwrapping even as she posed for this picture.....so cute....she can multi-task!!!

Alivia was so fun, she loved this little antique cherub bird bath, the eggs were secondary at times....... so cute.

She kept smiling and running on to find the next one.... and she was keeping her lamb, thank you!.
Ok...somewhere they say there is an egg in this tree......lol.....

We are into Spring Field Trial season. Last weekend was our club event. It was fun, exhausting and I was so busy I took zero pictures. I prepared and fed the 30 some people breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most of the prep was done on Thursday at home. It is always a fun time but man do you get tired. We got home Sunday at 11pm and took showers, veged for a bit and fell in bed.

Our young pup Casey, took second in Puppy....I miss not having my horse anymore so I didn't watch him run.

These next two weekends we get to go participate without all the organization, just offering a helping hand and enjoying a group of very nice people.

OK just one more picture, I didn't get to have the triplets for Easter but I did get some pictures. So I will share just one, my they are growing so much, and I love their yellow and blue Easter outfits. And there hairdoos!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, I hope you get outside and have wonderful spring weather.

Spring blessings,

Carrie

Oh my I do feel for you (literally) with the hot flashes. I've heard so many bad things about HRT that I made the decision to go the natural path. If you're interested in trying something that works well and has no side effects then I'd suggest a visit to your local GNC for a bottle of Estroven. They take approx 4 - 6 weeks to fully kick in, but they have cut my (power surges) down to less than 1/4 of what I was having and that was anywhere between 50 - 100 per day. I've run out so need to get more. They are full of black Kohosh, not sure if I spelt that correctly. Anyway well worth the $22 investment to see if they work for you.

So glad that you are getting some beautiful weather! We are getting 80's, too and it's getting quite warm in the house.

Olivia and the boys looked so cute for Easter. It's fun seeing the little ones dressed up and having fun.

I have had migrained for 20 plus years. They are not fun, so I know what you are going through. :( Hang in there.

Oh, I happened to catch a real good show on Dr. Phil on Tuesday with Robin talking about BIO-IDENTICAL hormone replacement. I had also heard this before from Suzanne Somers. I just spoke to my doctor today about this....of course, I'll have to see somebody else because they aren't equipped to saliva test hormones and then I wonder if we have a compound pharmacist in town. Anyway, check in to the bio-identical before taking synthetics. Hope this helps somewhat?

We are having devine weather too. Looks like a BBQ kind of weekend.

Look at those boys. They are just so cute and so is Olivia.
I don't have hot flashes but suffered migraines and I was taking all kinds o f stuff and Imitrex which was not helping. I decided to stop taking everything because I had heard about rebound headaches and I have only had 3 headaches since then and they have not lasted days at a time. I have read that migraines associated with menopause can be associated with too much estrogen. Now I am taking a bio identical progestine hormone called prometrium. It is supposed to help with periods that last weeks which I was having. Hopefully this will help with that because that can cause bad cells to develop. Hope you find help for the headaches.
Definitely insist to have your hormones checked.

Carrie, I take a low dose Estrogen only with a wee bit of testosterone in it....no need for progesterone because I've had a hysterectomy. I love this HRT - its low dose, yet takes my literally hundreds of hot flashes per day down to two or three and nights are so much better. I've been taking it for a long time (10 years) and don't seem to have any side effects. I've heard they can do really good things with finding the right combination for any body type nowadays - I say go for it!
The children are adorable!
Cheers!

I tried going off my HRT when those icky reports came out but ended up going back on because I couldn't stand the hot flashes and my mood was horrible. I feel so much better when I'm taking them and the discussion I had with my Dr involved the topic "quality of life". Love the picture of the boys! Can you believe how chilly it is?

My OBGYN wouldn't even talk about bio identical hormones...said they were a bunch of crap! I was really disappointed, I get the night sweats but I'm good during the day, I guess everyone is different:)

The boys are adorable and Olivia is such a little princess:)

Such darling children! Grandchildren certainly are the best, aren't they? I saw you mentioned Central Oregon. We're across the mountains in the Portland area. We're having a gorgeous day today, so need to get out and take a walk!

Look at those cutie pies!! I love their outfits!
I hope the meds help your migraines. I've only ever had a few in my life but that's plenty!
BTW you won my embroidery giveaway on my blog. I'll email you this weekend for your details!

Hi Carrie -- I've just had some fun reading through some of your back-posts. Did you ever make your little embroidered spring towels -- I loved all the embroidery patterns you were showing. And the picture of the triplets is adorable.

As for HRT, I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago and I was determined not to go on hrt because of everything I'd heard, but my Dr. had a cow! He said I'd throw my body into overnight menopause and it wouldn't work. He was just adamant and said the health benefits outweigh the risks. Which only makes sense -- I think there's a little something to those hormones keeping you young. Anyway, I'm on a very low dose and have had no problems -- I don't think I've ever even had a hot flash. So...that's my experience. ;-) Have a good weekend!

Hi Carrie,

I had to come over here and get my fix of the boys! They are growing so!! Olivia is adorable as well!

Either I got lucky with hot flashes or they will come back worse but mine were not too bad. I don't tolerate heat so I am counting my blessings that mine were mild and short lived - so far anyway. HRT scares me too so I don't know what I would do if they were worse.

I hope the headaches abate soon. I have a friend, a nurse no less, that had terrible rebound headaches. It took awhile but eventually after being off the aspirin, they went away. I hope you get the same results!

hugs, Linda
